Positions: Electrical Power

I support building an electrical intertie and the continued efforts to purchase the Four Dam Pool to provide for the electrical needs of Southeast Alaska communities. I will continue to support an open public dialogue as we move through this process so the people of Southeast can all have a voice in decisions made. Each community in Southeast has its own unique needs that must be taken into consideration. We should work toward building consensus on this important issue. We all realize our communities need cost effective power if we are to grow and prosper.

It is also vital to provide cost effective telecommunications infrastructure here in Southeast. We need fiber optic access with much greater capacity. It's time Southeast Alaska invested in technology so we can compete in a marketplace that is dependent on fast and reliable communication.

Improved microwave links may work in the short term by increasing the microwave bandwidth. Ultimately, however, we will need a fiber optic line with enough capacity to meet the needs of individuals, businesses, and government.

VOTE GREG MIDDAG FOR STATE SENATE.
RUNNING FOR ALL THE RIGHT REASONS.
